In November 1992, the First Conference for Asian Women and Theater organized by Koharu Kisaragi of NOISE, Inc. was held in Tokyo and Kyoto.

Some 15 delegates attended from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, China, Korea, Philippines, and a number of Japanese women theater practitioners.

The Philippine delegation composed of Brenda Fajardo, Malou Jacob, and Rustica Carpio proposed that The Second Conference be held in the Philippines.
